The National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) joined the first-ever QAhusayan Fair at UP Diliman, with the theme “Empowering Excellence through a Culture of Quality”. The event was held on 7-11 September 2026 at the Pilar Herrera Hall of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), UP Diliman.

NIGS was represented at the fair by Dr. Noelynna T. Ramos, Director; Dr. Allan Gil S. Fernando, Quality Assurance Officer; Mr. Miguel Joven E. Villanueva, University Research Associate I; Ms. Karen G. Arcangel, School Credits Evaluator; Ms. Anna Marie S. Olavides, Junior Office Assistant; and Ms. Romarie Aurly Ramos, Junior Research Associate.

The QAhusayan Fair brought together members of the UP community to promote the importance of quality assurance (QA) and continuous improvement in the University. It provided an opportunity for faculty members, administrative staff, research, extension, and professional staff (REPS), and students to learn from one another and gain insights into practices that support quality enhancement across different UP units.

The weeklong Fair featured exhibits, presentations, and interactive discussions centered on QA in various areas including, teaching, research, governance, and service. These activities provided participants with opportunities to learn about QA initiatives and practices being implemented across the University.

Through its participation in the QAhusayan Fair, NIGS gained insights and learned from the experiences and QA practices of other UP units. The event also provided an opportunity for the NIGS QA Team and Institute representatives to engage with fellow UP personnel and further strengthen their understanding of QA and continuous improvement.
