The National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) held its MS Geology Thesis Proposal Colloquium for the Second Semester, AY 2024–2025 on 5 May 2025 (Monday) at the NIGS Seminar Room. The event showcased the research concepts of graduate students, marking an important milestone in their academic journey.
The colloquium opened with registration at 2:30 PM, followed by a brief introduction of the presenters. Five MS Geology students presented their thesis proposals, each tackling timely and significant geoscientific issues across the Philippines—from mineral resource studies to volcanic hazards and water resource dynamics.

This semester’s presentations highlighted the broad and impactful scope of research being pursued by NIGS graduate students. Faculty, peers, and guests were invited to attend and engage in scholarly discussion, providing feedback and support to the presenters.
The colloquium not only served as a platform to refine research ideas but also reinforced the institute’s commitment to producing high-quality, socially relevant geological research.
