The National Institute of Geological Sciences participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on March 12, 2026 reinforcing the importance of earthquake preparedness and safety within our community.

Faculty, staff, and students practiced the proper “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, followed by an orderly evacuation to designated safe areas.

As part of the activity, participants also conducted a mock first aid response, demonstrating how to assist and provide immediate care to individuals in case of injuries during emergencies.

Activities like this help strengthen awareness, preparedness, and coordination in the event of a real earthquake. As an institute dedicated to the study of Earth processes, NIGS recognizes the importance of fostering a culture of disaster preparedness and resilience within our community.Let us all stay prepared and continue working together toward a safer and more resilient environment.
