The National Institute of Geological Sciences (UP-NIGS) actively took part in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on 06 November 2025, demonstrating its continued commitment to disaster preparedness and community safety.

At the sound of the alarm, NIGS personnel and students promptly performed the Drop, Cover, and Hold procedure before proceeding to the nearest exits in an orderly manner. Evacuation marshals, wearing high-visibility vests, efficiently guided participants along designated routes toward the assembly area, ensuring a smooth and safe evacuation.
The activity served as both a refresher and an evaluation of the Institute’s emergency response system. It helped assess the effectiveness of communication lines, coordination among marshals, and the community’s familiarity with evacuation protocols.
Through the active participation of faculty members, researchers, staff, and students in the NSED, UP NIGS highlighted the importance of shared responsibility, coordination, and adherence to safety protocols in strengthening the Institute’s overall capacity for emergency preparedness and response.
