The University of the Philippines - National Institute of Geological Sciences (UP-NIGS) is celebrating a remarkable milestone following the release of the November 2025 Geologist Licensure Examination results. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 191 out of 296 examinees passed the Computer-Based Licensure Examination administered this November.

Among the successful institutions, UP Diliman stood out with an exceptional 97.83% passing rate, placing first among the Top Performing Schools, as 45 of its 46 examinees earned their place among the country’s newest licensed geologists. This year’s performance continues a long tradition of excellence for UP NIGS, which has consistently produced some of the nation’s top-performing geoscience graduates.

But what truly made this year remarkable was how UP NIGS students dominated the top spots. Eleven of the Institute’s graduates secured places among the topnotchers which showcases not only their individual hard work but also the strong academic foundation and mentorship cultivated within NIGS.

Leading the roster is Kryzelle M. Carmona, who earned Top 1, followed closely by Lorenzo Angelo D. Valeriano at Top 2. Sharing the Top 3 spots are Chester Lloyd R. Lomboy and Marcus Gabriel H. Mendoza. The list continues with Glenn Y. Vallespin at Top 4; Justyn Jay D. Magtanong and Fenela E. Baclao both secured Top 5; Margiel Altheia T. Guittap at Top 6; and Alyssa Nicole P. Labuan at Top 7. Completing the list are Nathaniel C. Angue, who placed Top 9, and Tristan Ivan L. Bernardo, who earned Top 10.

These accomplishments symbolize not only academic success but also the resilience, discipline, and passion of its students that are shaped through years of fieldwork, hands-on mentoring, and collaborative learning.

As UP NIGS celebrates these achievements, the Institute extends its heartfelt congratulations to all passers, topnotchers, faculty members, mentors, and families who made the journey possible. The results of the 2025 licensure exam stand as a proud reminder of what the UP community can achieve through dedication and collective excellence.
