Mr. Nikko Balanial, a graduate student from the Rushurgent Working Group (RWG), visited the National Museum of Nature and Science (NMNS) and the Geological Survey of Japan (GSJ) in Tsukuba, Japan from April 5 to May 16, 2025. During the visit, Mr. Balanial conducted geochemical and geochronological analyses in support of his ongoing research. In addition to laboratory work, he engaged in fruitful research discussions with Dr. Kenichiro Tani of NMNS and Dr. Osamu Ishizuka of GSJ, further enriching the scientific exchange. The visit also helped strengthen collaborative ties between the National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) and its long-standing Japanese partners. This international research engagement was made possible through the COOPERATE (Continuous Operational and Outcomes-based Partnership for Excellence in Research and Academic Training Enhancement) program of the University of the Philippines System through the Office of International Linkages (UP-OIL).
