The Philippine Hydro Hub successfully conducted a two-day meeting and workshop on May 4–5, 2026 at the National Institute of Geological Sciences, bringing together researchers, stakeholders, and decision-makers from various institutions to discuss key issues and advancements in hydrology, hydrogeology, and water resources in the Philippines.

The first day of the event focused on “Data, Observations, and Monitoring Needs,” providing a venue for participants to exchange insights and present ongoing studies related to hydrological science and water resource management. A series of presentations highlighted current research initiatives, monitoring efforts, and data-driven approaches that contribute to understanding the country’s water systems.

On the second day, participants attended the workshop titled “Models and Resources on the Hub & How to Use Them,” which featured discussions on the Philippine Hydrological Model and its applications. Attendees were introduced to available tools and resources under the Hub, while an afternoon practical session demonstrated how model outputs can be analyzed using Python. A poster session was also held, showcasing contributions from researchers and early-career scientists.

The Philippine Hydro Hub is a collaborative initiative led by University of the Philippines Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University, and the British Geological Survey. Supported through the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s International Science Partnerships Fund in partnership with the British Council, the project aims to strengthen collaboration among researchers and stakeholders in advancing hydrological science toward a more sustainable water future for the Philippines.
