The National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) served as one of the designated test centers for the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) 2027, held on 01–02 August 2026, in coordination with the UP Office of Admissions.
As part of the University’s preparations for the annual entrance examination, NIGS made several classrooms and facilities available to accommodate UPCAT examinees, providing a safe, organized, and conducive environment for aspiring Iskolars ng Bayan.
Beyond serving as a testing venue, the Institute also extended logistical and operational support for the conduct of the examination. NIGS provided an Institute vehicle for the transport of examination materials, including test boxes and personnel, as well as computer units used for the QR code verification of examinees. These resources contributed to the implementation of UPCAT operations at the Institute.
NIGS building administrator, technician, and custodial workers played an essential role in the activity by preparing the testing venues, ensuring the readiness of facilities and equipment, and providing on-site operational support throughout the two-day examination in coordination with the UP Office of Admissions.
Through the provision of its facilities, equipment, transportation, and dedicated support personnel, NIGS reaffirmed its commitment to the University’s mission of providing accessible quality education by helping ensure the successful administration of UPCAT 2027 and welcoming the next generation of students.
