The National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) proudly recognized this year's recipients of the 2026 UP Geology Merit Awards (UPGMA) during an awarding ceremony held at the NIGS Audio-Visual Room (AVR) on 5 June 2026.
The UP Geology Merit Awards honor students who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, service, and contributions to the geological sciences. Established through the collaborative efforts of the NIGS community and its partners, the award continues to celebrate and encourage outstanding achievement among undergraduate and graduate geology students.
