Demonstrating its continued commitment to disaster preparedness, the National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) prepared to participate in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) scheduled on 11 September 2025.
Prior to the event, a preparatory meeting was held to brief the evacuation marshals on their specific roles and responsibilities. The evacuation plan for the upcoming drill was also shared and discussed to ensure that every marshal understood the flow of procedures and could act swiftly and effectively during the exercise.
On the scheduled day, the marshals were already stationed at their designated posts before the drill, fully equipped with high-visibility vests and ready to guide the students, faculty, and staff to safety at the sound of the alarm. Their presence highlighted the Institute’s proactive stance on ensuring safety and order during emergency situations.
The Institute’s preparation goes beyond simple compliance with national protocols. It underscores a deep-rooted commitment to fostering a culture of safety, readiness, and resilience within the NIGS community. Regular participation in earthquake drills equips the NIGS community with the confidence, knowledge, and quick response skills necessary to minimize risk during emergencies.
