The National Institute of Geological Sciences (UP-NIGS) took part in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on 13 March 2025, reaffirming its commitment to disaster preparedness and safety.

At the designated time, personnel and students followed the DROP-COVER-HOLD protocol before proceeding in an orderly manner to the nearest exits and assembling at the designated evacuation area. Evacuation marshals, identifiable in high-visibility vests, efficiently guided participants along pre-determined routes, ensuring a smooth and systematic evacuation.

The drill aimed to evaluate and enhance the Institute’s emergency response capabilities in the event of a major earthquake. Through the collaborative efforts of faculty, staff, researchers, and students, the exercise was successfully conducted.

This initiative highlights NIGS’s dedication to fostering a culture of disaster resilience and preparedness within its academic community.
