Last May 19, 2025, students from the National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS), under both the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) sections, actively participated in the College of Science National Training Service Program (CS-NSTP) Cleanup and Tree Nurturing Activity. This event marked the culmination of their NSTP course for the second semester of Academic Year 2024–2025.
A total of fifty-seven NIGS students engaged in the initiative, contributing to environmental conservation efforts in and around their institute. Simultaneously, NSTP students from other institutes within the College of Science conducted parallel activities in their respective areas, demonstrating a united effort toward ecological awareness and sustainability.
The event aimed to strengthen students’ environmental consciousness and highlight their role in maintaining clean and green surroundings. It also served as a meaningful conclusion to their NSTP journey.
The participating students are set to graduate from the National Training Service Program and will officially take their oath as members of the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) on June 2, 2025, at the Institute of Biology Auditorium.
