The National Institute of Geological Sciences (UP-NIGS) kicked off its first zumba session called Zumba Fitness Fridays on 13 June 2025 at NIGS Multipurpose Room. This initiative aims to promote health and wellness among its staff—highlighting the importance of regular physical movement in reducing stress, enhancing mental focus, and fostering overall well-being in the workplace.

The session began with a warm-up exercise, followed by the main Zumba activity, during which an instructional video from the internet was projected on screen to guide the participants. Everyone actively followed along, showcasing their energy and rhythm in time with the beat and movements.

The session ended with participants catching their breath and drenched in sweat, yet feeling accomplished and satisfied with the experience. Even in a short span of time, they were able to release their stress and unwind, which is the primary goal of the activity.

The Zumba Fitness Fridays will hold its sessions every Friday, so for those who are interested in joining this fun-filled activity, don’t hesitate to sign up to the link provided.
