Professors (Dr. Armada, Dr. Payot, and Dr. Valera) of the Geology 215 class conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) seminar titled "Geo-Lecture Series: Geology and Geohazards in Kalinga" at Kalinga State University (KSU) last August 10, 2023. The lectures were organized as part of the information education and communication activities of the DOST-funded projects titled "Growth of an Island Arc (GAIA)" and "Marine and Onshore Geophysical Investigations of the Manila Subduction Zone (MOGI)." The lectures discussed the geology of Kalinga as well as potential hazards such as earthquakes, landslides, and volcanic eruptions. Around 70 participants, including Kalinga Local Government Unit (LGU) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) staff members, KSU faculty, and students, attended the lecture series.

Dr. Armada (top left), Dr. Payot (top middle), and Dr. Valera (top right) gave lectures on the geology of Kalinga as well as potential hazards such as earthquakes, landslides, and volcanic eruptions in the province.
